Solutions

Welcome to GamaVida Solutions! We drastically improve the quality and impact of engagement with students or clients through a scenario-based approach. Scenarios are safe playing fields, while discerned by the brain as totally realistic.

We are passionate about meeting the needs of teachers, coaches, mentors, trainers, and counselors. For the past 11 years, GamaVida has delivered powerful, scenario-based activities and tools for optimizing learning and planning to overcome your most difficult challenges.

We learn best by doing. Now more than ever we need learning activities that are experiential. Through the pandemic, most organizations have adapted to blending classroom-based delivery with eLearning, however that has brought to light a critical challenge: In spite of the research that learners retain only 7% through listening, they continue to use lectures because they cost less. Moreover, even though learners retain 80% of information through experiential learning activities, they have been too expensive and can take 1-2 years to complete.

GamaVida helps you overcome this challenge and optimize solutions through our scenario approach with four core services:

Full-service, Customized Scenario Development

GamaVida has expert teams to help you plan, design, develop, and deploy online or analog scenario-based activities for your training programs or for strategic planning events. We provide project management, artists, serious game designers, behavioral scientists, curriculum designers, and scenario approach experts to ensure your program meets your specific needs and goals.

Scenario-based Templates

GamaVida has developed dozens of scenarios on multiple themes for a variety of sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and IT that can be adapted for any other setting and sector. Re-skinning these templates can be a lower-cost solution to creating a new scenario from scratch and is just as effective.

Scenario Approach Consulting

We provide one or more of our team of experts on an ongoing basis to guide and manage the transition of your content to a scenario-based approach to meet your organizational challenges and goals. During this process, we also coach and educate your team to become better equipped to sustain this approach after our engagement has ended.

Scenario-thons and Webinars

We facilitate online and in-person events for learning how to plan, develop, and deliver high-impact scenarios for your organization. We also provide periodic webinars that highlight key tips and strategies to help make your scenarios more effective.

Gamavida relies on research and extensive experience in all four areas.

Key Features of the
Scenario-based Approach:

  • Research substantiates that experience is the best form of learning and that simulations, models, and games are effective delivery tools. Participating in scenarios accelerates the ability to learn processes, systems, and decisions leading to optimal outcomes.

  • Participants in scenarios have the chance to make real decisions that matter, rather than left to the chances of the roll of a dice. Participant agency is extremely important because it provides multiple possibilities for various outcomes to learn from.

  • For learning and planning in a scenario to take hold in a participant’s mind, they must be able to fail and try other options without consequence to their positions nor perceptions of others. Failing fast is a hallmark of good scenario because it means the challenges are realistic and complex, which benefits the learner.

  • Scenarios are grounded in realistic settings, circumstances, roles, and impacts. They show awareness and acceptance of reality that is practical or pragmatic rather than ideal or moral, allowing for more open decision making.

  • The key focus of scenarios is deciding through uncertainty. Good scenarios are rooted in the past and in the present. They provide an opportunity to explore interpretations of past and present events to describe possible actions or events in the future.

  • Social interaction during activities, solving problems, exploring challenges, and sharing results increases opportunities for exploring assumptions and solutions. Participants form teams and cohorts with the ability to plan their strategies, achieve their goals, communicate how they are feeling, encourage each other, and build camaraderie.

  • For any whole-system, integrative scenario to be successful, the ideas, decisions, and changes that occur must transfer to the real world as a new approach or strategy.

  • Persistence is a key success factor for the scenario approach because it encourages multiple attempts to solve a problem or overcome a challenge. Persistence in learning and planning blurs the line between learning and doing—making new information and experiences available and measurable at all times, on demand.
